DLC speaks on tertiary education

Tertiary education for disadvantaged students are paramount in terms of their career development’s. Hopes and African dreams of students are crushed when they are turned away from tertiary institutions because of the racially discriminatory quota system and are forced to study abroad.

Hence Government needs to prioritize tertiary education and build more Universities and TVET colleges to further enhance the tertiary education platforms.

The administration of the NSFAS funding requires a total overhaul. The flaws within the screening processes needs to be sorted out. Greater care in the administration is required to ensure that the funding goes to the “RIGHT” students who qualify in terms of its criteria as set out in respect of their parents’ income. An effective monitoring process needs to be adopted and implemented.
